A LITTLE NUGGET ON FAITH

*Mark 11:23: “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him.”

*II Corinthians 4:13: “But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed therefore I spoke,’ we also believe, therefore also we speak.”

*Hebrews 1:3: “And He [Jesus] is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.

PRAYER

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, whether Catholic or Protestant, Evangelical or Pentecostal, we all believe in the effectiveness of a praying people.  In the Book of James we read, “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” In Ephesians 6 the Apostle Paul states, “With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.”

Also,  Ephesians 6 states, “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

These passages of scripture say several things to us.  First, our ultimate fight is not against people specifically, but the forces at work behind the actions of people (See Eph. 2:2).  Second, it is made clear that we as God’s people have power and authority over these forces if we will use our spiritual weapons effectively.  Third, if we pray over situations and for one another, we can be granted greater effectiveness in our efforts for the gospel.

My encouragement to all of us at Clapham, then, is to make prayer a priority.  Without it we lose, with it we win!  A major purpose here at Clapham is to mobilize a vast spiritual army made up of believers across denominational lines who will make it a priority to engage in purposeful and focused prayer. On this page you will see specific areas designated for prayerful intercession.  If you desire to be a part of this force for the Kingdom, please contact us and let us know.  If possible please let us know the times and frequency you are committed to pray for specific areas of focus. Thank you for your desire to engage the fight.  It will be exciting to watch what God will do through His people who have purposed to pray!
